Ali al Muqri

is a Yemeni novelist and writer, recognized as one of the prominent voices in contemporary Arabic literature. He is among the Arab authors whose works have reached audiences beyond Yemen, having been translated into French, English, Italian, and Kurdish. Some of his novels have received wide acclaim, including "Black Taste… Black Scent - Ta'am Aswad... Raehah Soda" and "The Current Jew - Alyahoodi Alhali," both of which were longlisted for the Arabic Booker Prize, while his novel "Hurma" received a special mention from the French Literature Prize committee. His body of work spans novels, poetry, and short story collections, in addition to contributions to international press and literary magazines such as The New York Times and Banipal. his works focus on human liberty and the courage to address complex human and social relationships, establishing him as an influential and often debated figure in contemporary Arabic literature.
